Installation & Configuration

1. Powering the Kindoo Remote Control​

The Kindoo Remote Control can be powered using one of the following methods:

  1. Power over Ethernet (PoE): If your network supports PoE, the controller can be powered directly through the Ethernet cable without requiring an additional power adapter.
  2. Mini USB Plug: The controller can also be powered using a standard mini USB power adapter. Ensure that the adapter provides a stable power supply for reliable operation.

Do not power the Kindoo Remote Control with PoE and USB at the same time.

2. Placement and Installation​

To ensure optimal performance, install the Kindoo Remote Control in a location that meets the following conditions:

  • Within Bluetooth range of the Kindoo devices (typically 5-10 meters, depending on obstacles and interference).
  • Near a reliable power source.
  • Within reach of a strong Wi-Fi signal if using wireless connectivity.
  • If using Ethernet, ensure proximity to an available network port.
  • Once positioned, securely mount the Kindoo Remote Control and connect it to power.

3. First-Time Configuration​

  1. Download and install the Kindoo mobile application from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Open the Kindoo app, select the site where you want to add the controller.
  3. Navigate to Controllers and select Add Controller.
  4. Hold your phone next to the controller and follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Complete the setup by assigning the controller to one or more nearby entry points.
Important Notes

Make sure your network allows connections from the controller to the Internet on:

  • Port: 8883
  • Domain: iot-ctrl.kindoo.tech

4. Setting Up Wi-Fi Connection​

To connect the Kindoo Remote Control to Wi-Fi or update the Wi-Fi password:

  1. Open the Kindoo app and navigate to the Site where the controller is registered.
  2. Go to Controllers and select the specific controller.
  3. Click on the gear icon and select Setup Wi-Fi.
  4. Ensure you are next to the controller and follow the on-screen instructions to configure the Wi-Fi connection.
